Three Seriously Injured in Accident in Iron County

Hurley, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Three people were seriously injured following a head-on collision near Kimball Thursday night.

The Iron County Sheriff's Department received the call of a two vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 2 near Valley Road around 10:30 p.m.

Authorities say that two brothers, ages 22 and 29, of Philadelphia were traveling eastbound on Highway 2 when they swerved to avoid hitting a deer and collided with a truck traveling westbound.

Both drivers and the passenger were transported to Grand View Hospital in Ironwood.

Due to the severity of the injuries, the two men from Philadelphia were airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.

The driver of the truck, a 58-year-old Ontario man was treated and released in Ironwood.

The names of the parties involved are not being released at this time.

The accident remains under investigation by the Iron County Sheriff's Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
