Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- A major reconstruction project that will close Tower Avenue from Belknap Street to North Third Street is expected to begin on April 15.
The project will include a pedestrian–friendly streetscape, traffic median, landscaping and other commercial enhancements.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the highway has not been reconstructed since 1935.
Planning for the project began in March of 2006. The project is expected to last until mid-October. Construction costs are estimated at $7 million.
City officials say that the community will be well-informed of alternate routes to use during the reconstruction.
