Travel Not Advised in Southern Wisconsin

December 20, 2012 Updated Dec 20, 2012 at 9:01 AM CDT

Madison, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Heavy snow and high winds have significantly impacted travel already throughout southern Wisconsin.

With more snow and high winds expected throughout the day, travel is not advised in any counties under the winter weather warnings.

The Northwest Region State Patrol has already responded to about a dozen run offs and crashes, primarily from the Eau Claire area and south.

Highway crews have been out most of the night plowing state highways and will continue throughout the day.

If you must travel, travelers are encouraged to check winter road conditions before leaving home by calling 5-1-1.

Blizzard warnings are still in effect for many southern counties in the state. A winter storm warning remains in effect through Friday afternoon.
