Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Mayors Hagen and Ness shared their views on the Sandpiper Pipeline in front of a packed news conference.
They are both supportive of the expanded line saying it would have a significant impact on the regional economy.
Enbridge wants to replace its aging line number three, that currently carries crude oil from the Alberta tar sands to Superior.
Currently, Enbridge is proposing a series of pump station and terminal upgrades to their crude oil main pipeline system.
At the same time Enbridge is adding two new above ground storage tanks and installing new pumping units and equipment at the Superior terminal.
These new facilities are needed to handle the increased volume of oil that will be carried in the upgraded line.
We have a crew at the news conference and will have further details tonight on our evening newscasts.
