Two Children Taken to the Hospital After Car Accident

Barksdale, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- One woman and the two children in her car were taken to the hospital after a car crash near Barksdale, WI in Bayfield County.

The Bayfield County Sheriff's Office received a call of a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 13 and U.S. Highway 2. At the time of the accident, that intersection was under construction.

A 39 year old Ashland woman with two passengers, one 6 and the other 7 (both in the backseat with seatbelts on) were traveling south on Highway 13 when they entered the intersection and was struck by a truck heading west on Highway 2. The truck was working in the construction zone.

The driver and two children were transported to Memorial Medical Center Hospital in Ashland with what is understood to be minor injuries. The driver of the truck, a 57 year old male from Hurly, was not injured.

The accident is still under investigation.

The Ashland Fire Department, Washburn Fire Department, Washburn Area Ambulance Service and officers of the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.
