Two charged in Pine County animal abuse and neglect case

Pine County, MN (NNCNOW.com)--- Two people have been charged in connection with an animal abuse and neglect case stemming from an investigation in September in Pine County.

65-year-old Kathleen Doenz and her mother 86-year old Gloria Carlson have been charged with 14 counts total- including 5 felony counts, related to the abuse and neglect of horses, dogs and other animals located on their properties in Pine County.

In September, authorities seized 12 horses, 21 dogs, 18 ducks and 84 chickens that were found in filthy conditions on a farm along Holly Road.

Just weeks later, authorities seized another fourteen horses, 15 dogs and three cats in poor health at a farm on Pioneer Road connected to the same animal abuse case.

Numerous animals had to be euthanized following the seizure.
