Eden Prairie, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Authorities are searching areas of Stearns County for Mandy Matula, a former UMD softball player who has been missing since May 1.

Police believe David Roe, the person of interest in Matula's disappearance, was in areas of Stearns County after he was last seen with Matula.

Eden Prairie police say that Carver County is also being searched after items of interest were found there, but no significant developments have resulted from the search.

Around 10 a.m. Sunday, police say people searching around Scenic Heights Road in Eden Prairie found several small pieces of tissue paper with what appeared to be blood on the surface. Police have confirmed the source of the blood and have determined that it is not related to Matula's disappearance.

David Roe, 24, died after police say he shot himself in the head in the station parking lot prior to being questioned by investigators.

Mandy Matula, 24, was last seen with Roe in Miller Park in Eden Prairie at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

Matula and Roe were believed to be traveling in a 2013 black Ford Escape with Minnesota license plate number 802-KNA when they were last seen.

Police are asking anyone with information about Matula’s whereabouts or who may have seen the two individuals or the vehicle to call Eden Prairie Police at 953-949-6200.

Matula was an outfielder and pitcher for UMD.
