Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- An explosion rocked the Lake Breeze motel last night along Scenic 61 in Duluth Wednesday...sending the office building up in flames destroying the structure.
This is what's left of the building that was home to the office, a sauna and two rental units.
Fire officials say evidence indicates there was some sort of explosion in the laundry room which started the fire.
Damage estimates at the resort have been set at 2 hundred 50 thousand dollars.
Assistant Duluth Fire Chief Erik Simonson says one of the owners of the resort was taken to Miller Dwan rehabilitation center where she's in serious but stable condition.
Another victim was treated and released for minor injuries.
Simonson says they're fortunate no one else was inside the building at the time of the explosion.
"Most of the folks that were staying at the hotel were outside, up around the pool, when this happened, and thankfully so that they are all outside when it happened," said Simonson.
More than a dozen guests are left to find a new place to stay.
The investigation continues but Simonson says that there is no reason to believe foul play is involved.
