Victim in Fatal Snowmobile Accident Identified

Iron River, WI (NNCNOW.COM) - The man who was killed in a snowmobile accident in Bayfield County Friday has been identified.

According to the Bayfield County Sheriff's Office, Ryan Maly, 22, of Bryant, Wis. died from severe traumatic injuries after he was propelled into a tree.

Authorities say Maly was riding his snowmobile with three friends near Iron River Friday night when he passed one of his friends on his snowmobile then attempted to negotiate the corner off of Fire Tower Road and Forest Road 242.

The Sheriff's Office says that Maly's snowmobile hit a tree, which then propelled him into a tree.

Authorities say the accident was reported at 11:43 p.m. When emergency responders arrived, they tried to use life saving techniques, but Maly's injuries were severe and he died.

The Iron River Ambulance, Ashland Paramedic unit, wardens from the DNR and the Bayfield County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene.
