Missing Silver Bay Man Found

By KBJR News 1

A massive search and rescue operation for a Silver Bay resident ended today the way authorities had hoped.

61-year-old David Dunham of Silver Bay went missing Friday.

Lake County authorities received some good news Saturday when Dunham was found unharmed near Crookston, Minnesota.

Some tense moments for authorities as a full-scale search and rescue operation was underway.
Officials Dunham's wife notified Silver Bay police yesterday of his disappearance and the search efforts began later that afternoon.

"He's been missing since yesterday morning. And we've had quite a search going on for him for over 24 hours," said B.J. Kohlstedt, Lake County Rescue captain.

From the air to the ground, officials combed the area for Dunham.

"I think we had seven different agencies that came and helped us since 5:00 yesterday with this search," said Lake County Sheriff's Deputy, David Pirsig.

The efforts paid off.
Just before 2:30 on Saturday, Polk County notified the Lake County Sheriff's department with some good news.

"He's fine, he's taking his meds and he's apparently hitchhiking and on his way to see his sister in Idaho," said Pirsig.

Officials say after Dunham received a brief evaluation, authorities released him.

Dunham is a diabetic, but Lake County authorities do not know at this point if he suffered a reaction to his meds prior to or during his disappearance.
