While some Northlanders are heading to their favorite lakes this Memorial Day Weekend, others paused to remember fallen members of the Military.

At the Commemorative Air Force Museum in Hermantown, it was a time to honor a fallen soldier this Memorial Day weekend- Army Staff Sergeant Adam Sheda.

"To commemorate the life of a fallen soldier is a very special thing-that's what Memorial Day is," said Peter Prudden.

Sheda was mudered last year during a fight in Duluth's Central Hillside.
Officials say Adam served six years in the military and was an avid collector of World War II memorabilia.
Today Adam's family officially dedicated part of the museum with Adam's collection proudly displayed.

Adam's father, Tony described how he misses Adam's sense of humor and the little things in life such as Adam's tendency to leave every light on in the family's home.

"I used to joke. I can't wait until you get married. I'm going to turn on every light you've got," said Tony Sheda.

Tony also read a letter that Adam left behind thanking his family for the lifelong lessons they taught him.

"The many values you've taught me were some of the most important. Honesty and hard work. Putting oneself second."

In the midst of the uniforms, medallions, and weapons being displayed amongst Adam's collection, Tony's father says that Adam may have said it best in one of his letters.

"I hope you do not mourn greatly. I have fallen but my spirit soars," said Tony as he quoted from his son's letter.

Officials say Adam's collection at the Commemorative Air Force Museum contains several hundred World War Two-era items.
