Superior Reroutes 4th of July Parade

By KBJR News 1

After rumors of cancellation, officials say the "Superior Citizens Fourth of July Parade" is on track to celebrate America's Independence.

Organizers received recent notification from the State of Wisconsin saying the parade had to be relocated or cancelled, due to heavy traffic commutes on the Bong Bridge.
Parade officials say the construction taking place on the Blatnik Bridge was the deciding factor on the new route.

"The parade will start at 28th and Catlin," said Dave Stannard, parade organizer. " It will go West on 28th Street to Hammond Avenue and then we will go South on Hammond Avenue to the Superior Middle School- that's where we'll disband."

Organizers say the parade will be followed by a fireworks display at the Bong Airport later that evening.
