With the Duluth School District's Long Range Facilities Plan continuing to move forward, one group is still trying to bring it to a halt.
The group 'Let Duluth Vote' took aim once again at school board members.

Harry Welty of Let Duluth Vote said he plans to circulate a petition in an attempt to recall board members.

But there is a large obstacle in the path of Welty's intentions.

Tonight's school board meeting kicked-off with Welty setting his sights on board members-expressing his frustration with the district's Long Range Facilities Plan.

"My sense of this school board is no matter what kind of plan we come up with...this board has no intention of giving it any consideration whatsoever," said Welty.

Welty promised to circulate a petition this evening in an effort to remove some members from the board.
But there's a roadblock ahead of his plan.

The district says 'a petition for recall of a board member may be presented to the board but it is advisory in nature only, it does not force or authorize the board to take any action.'

"Many of you (board members) have made it clear that...you are extremely skeptical that any plan we could come up with is worthwhile and most of you parenthetically add that you don't have to abide by any vote that we hold on it," said Welty.

In other action, the board passed a resolution in regard to maximum levy certification.

School officials say the levy is directed towards the areas of the General Fund, community education and debt service?

The district says the amount is set TENTATIVELY at 17-point-seven million dollars.
The dollar amount is expected to be finalized this December.
