The football phrase 'border battle' has taken on a whole new meaning.
As Brett Favre sports a Vikings uniform, Northlanders have differing opinions on the previous Packer.

In Duluth, some bar-goers say Brett Favre is looking good with 'horns on his helmet.'

"I think it's great, I think it gives them (the Vikings) a better chance to go a little farther this year."

But Larry Knase's wife Karen, thinks otherwise.
She busted out her Pink Favre jersey for the first time in several years.

"To mourn his death....as a Green Bay Packer," she said.

Across the bridge in 'Packer Country' some football fans say they wish Favre would have stayed off the playing field.

"I think Brett Favre should have just stayed retired," said Penny Colvin of Superior.

But not all 'cheeseheads' feel the same way. Greg Berthiaume sported his Packer hat at the bar and said 'he's all for number four.

"As long as Brett's playing, I love the man myself, he's a great athlete--I'm sorry he's not a Packer but hey I'll be rooting for the Vikings this year," Berthiaume said.

Others say they're not so sure.

"I'm kind of disappointed, I felt that Brett would remain retired this year," said Karen Knase.

Others says they just wish Brett would have made up his mind sooner.

"It's a media circus, he's retired he's not, he's retired he's not," said Colvin.

While not everyone is on the same playing field opinion wise, one football fan said Favre in purple is acceptable.

"He's back playing, and hey more power to him,and he's a Viking...that's close enough to home, said Berthiaume.

Last year Favre played for the New York Jets. A bit of history on Favre: before Brett's career as a Packer, he played as a Backup Quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons in 1991.
