Suspects Lead Duluth And Superior Cops On High-Speed Chase

By KBJR News 1

Two Northland police departments separated by a state border, joined forces Wednesday afternoon in a chase.

Superior authorities say they tried stopping a Subaru with three males believed to be involved in drug trafficking.

Authorities say when they tried to pull the vehicle over in Superior, the suspects took off at high speed and fled to Duluth on the Blatnik bridge.

Two of the suspects were eventually arrested near the intersection of Piedmont Avenue and West Third Street.

"It shows the great level of cooperation I think we enjoy across the bridge," said Capt. Chad LaLor of the Superior Police Department. "The criminals obviously don't recognize the state line."

There's no word on the third suspect. Officials say the two others will likely face felony charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
