Gun Amnesty Nets 12 Weapons So Far

Story Updated: Feb 4, 2009

Syracuse Police are once again trading cash for guns, to get dangerous weapons off city streets.

Another gun amnesty program was announced this morning, and will pay 2-hundred dollars per handgun turned in. The program will take place February 4th and February 11th.

To qualify for the amnesty program you must be a city resident, with an illegal handgun, that is working.

The last gun amnesty program in Syracuse was conducted in 2006, and took 122 illegal handguns off the streets. Police ask that you call ahead before dropping off a gun, and they also say they will come to a home to collect the weapon.
