Giving back has always been a priority for Danna Livingston.
She has been a part of many positive initiatives but this year she is taking her volunteerism to a whole different level.
Instead of spoiling herself this spring break, she will be traveling to South Africa to volunteer at a children's orphanage.
"We are going to be helping out with the kids. I am going to be going over there and hopefully assess what the needs are. If the school needs books or if the kids need formula and diapers and medicine," says Danna.
The HIV and AIDS epidemic in South Africa has had a devastating impact on hundreds of thousands of children.
Danna hopes to bring some joy and comfort into the lives of these sick children, many of whom where abandoned due to the ravages of this epidemic.
"Everyone wants the same thing, they just want someone to care about them and tell them that they are worth something. I guess that is what is really the key to it all," says Danna.
Danna is not going alone.
She is taking one of her daughters with her who will tutor the older orphans.
"She is very interested and dedicated that her children have these experiences with her as well. I know I have heard her say that she wants all three of her daughters involved in a mission trip before they graduate," says Danna's friend Kim Pearson.
But it's not just her children that Danna inspires, it's all of the people around her.
"If there were any angels on Earth then Danna would be an angel on Earth. She is just a very cool and fun loving and happy person and I am very proud of her," says Danna's friend Todd Asanovich.
Danna points out, however, that you don't need to travel across the world to give back.
Even the smallest things, can have a big impact on someones life.
Danna will be leaving in mid March for South Africa where she will be spending two weeks at the Lambano Sanctuary.
If you would like to donate to the orphanage you can drop off your monetary gifts at the student services office at Wisconsin Indian Head Technical College before March 3rd.
If you leave your e-mail address in the envelope, Danna will contact you with details on how your money was spent.
