KBJR News 1
Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- Despite Thursday's destructive floods, tourism officials want you to know, Duluth's open for business.
The deluge of rain has now caused a deluge of phone calls, e–mails, and in some cases, reservation cancellations at area hotels. However Visit Duluth officials say most of the area's popular tourist spots were unharmed.
They also spoke with the area's hospitality management and in most cases, they're ready for visitors.
"It's business as usual and yes there were those "holy cow" images through the cyber community and in the media and they're very real but that's such a small percentage of the infrastructure and everything else is fully functional," said Terry Mattson.
While it's business as usual at most restaurants and hotels, there are still some road closures.
Visit Duluth officials are encouraging people who are traveling to the area to check the Minnesota Department of Transportation's website for any detours.
