(NNCnow.com) As all northlanders know, the winter blues can be hard to beat. Staying inside all the time to avoid the chilling cold can make you sad and antsy. Robin Rinke of the Lighthouse of Superior joined us with some tips on how to kick that Cabin Fever.

The term 'Cabin Fever' was first coined back in 1918 not as a disease but more of a sadness of the spirit.

The most common characteristics could include bouts of depression, a lack of energy, and irritability.

Most people are prone to Cabin Fever due to spending less time outside and in the sun.

Some of the most common combatants of Cabin Fever include things like making your enviorment more cheery by using bright colors indoors, or eating 'Good Mood Food' like nuts, spinach, or bananas.
