Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A Northland Halloween event is hoping spooky fun can also be educational.

Northern Expressions Arts Collective and the Lincoln Park Fair Food Access Committee are sponsoring "Haunted Happenings: The Legend of Hawthorne Manor."

The event will tell guests the tale of the fictional Hawthorne family, who mysteriously disappeared from their Park Point mansion in 1924.

The Harrison Community Center in Lincoln Park will be transformed into the family's mansion, which guests will be able to tour while trying to solve the mystery of the family's disappearance.

The event will also teach attendees about sanitary food preparation.

Organizers are collecting non-perishable food for the Salvation Army food shelf in Lincoln Park during the event.

The event is free and open to the public.
