(NNCNOW.com) --- A life threatening disease can be emotionally and financially draining for families.

With that in mind, a Duluth woman is using her love for baking to help families, one batch of cookies at a time.

Known as the Cookie Lady, Jennifer Young's "Cookies for Hope" project is making a difference in the Northland and beyond.

The cookie project sprung from Young’s desire to help a mother of five battling lung cancer.

Her first cookie sale in support of that young mother was held in 2007.

Today Young has a successful retail and on-line business called “Cookie Temptations” that keeps her busy baking, decorating and selling her unique chocolate decorated sugar cookies.

But as busy as she is, Young still finds time to make “cookies for hope” for families touched by life threatening disease.
