(NNCNOW.com) --- The doors of what's been called "Minnesota's scariest haunt" will open for the 20th season, Friday.

The Haunted Shack has seen its share of homes throughout the years, from Gary New Duluth, to Morgan Park. Its latest location is the Buffalo House.

The reason for the move is growth.

The haunted attraction has spread from a few rooms and five actors, to a combination haunted hayride - house and hundreds of volunteers.

And as its popularity and size grows, so do the opportunities for its "Chief Ghoul" Pat Stojevich.

From day one the Gary native had charitable plans for the Haunted Shack, and has used its proceeds and donations to make a difference throughout the Northland.

"It would be a good cause if we raise money for the Special Olympics and the food shelf,” Stojevich said. “I just needed a building and some place to do it in. So they gave me the skating shack out in Gary New Duluth. Thus the name 'the Haunted Shack.'"

The Haunted Shack will run weekends through Halloween night.
