Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com)--- Each year, the office of Multicultural Affairs at the University of Wisconsin Superior presents its community diversity award.

This year's recipient is Leslie "Les" Gibbs of the Red Lake Ojibwe Nation.

Gibbs connection with UWS has been widespread on many levels.

He is a strong advocate for higher education for everyone, but especially for diverse students of all ages and backgrounds.

"He believes in people, not only Native Americans but he believes in the human race,” Alvin “Chip” Beal of the UWS Office of Multicultural Affairs said. “He honors, values and respects everyone who comes into his pathway."

Les gives a lot of credit and respect to his wife Renee and their daughter Ravyn for his community involvement and is grateful for their support.
