Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Governor Mark Dayton has sent a disaster recommendation for Northeastern Minnesota to President Obama in hopes of qualifying for federal aid to help in the flood relief efforts.
If President Obama accepts this declaration, local governments will be able to apply for federal money to aid in the flood recovery cleanup.
Authorities have also announced that Duluth and the Fond du Lac Reservation sustained $108 million in damage to public infrastructure, including roads, bridges, utilities, etc.
Governor Dayton says that he also plans to call a special session of the legislature, however he could not say when it will happen.
