Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Over half a million dollars has been awarded to Duluth to hire 50 temporary flood relief workers to restore public infrastructure in the city.

A National Emergency Grant program has granted $543,000 to the City of Duluth Workforce Development division to cover wages for qualified individuals to help in the flood clean up efforts.

The city will be hiring workers immediately. Eligible workers for the flood relief clean up include those who lost their job as a result of the June flooding, dislocated workers currently not receiving unemployment benefits and those who have had long term unemployment.

Workers will be paid an hourly wage plus benefits and will be employed for up to 3 months.

Interested applicants must contact the Duluth Workforce Development Center at (218) 302-8400 or visit the office located at 402 West First Street.
