Houston County, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- In a showing of the true meaning of Minnesota nice, Houston County in southeastern Minnesota is hoping to send Duluth $1.5 million to help in the recovery efforts after June's destructive floods, according to the Winona Daily News.

The State of Minnesota asked the county to pay back the funds not used during the 2007 flooding totaling about $1.52 million. The county was originally hoping to use the money to rebuild a section of one of their county roads, but is now asking that the money be sent north to Duluth to aid in their flood recovery efforts.

The Houston County Board of Commissioners has agreed to return the money to the state, saying that Duluth needs it more than Houston County.
