Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- For more than six decades the Volunteer Guild at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth has been making a difference in the lives of patients and their families.

Many members found the calling to volunteer, after long and successful careers in the workforce.

The Volunteer Service Guild has 320 members.

Duties range from providing directions around the hospital campus to running the popular gift shop.

Before retiring, Sharon Buchanan was the operations manager in the Wells Fargo Trust Department.

The past seven years at St. Luke's have been an important part of her life.

"We all have skills from our working years and we want to use them somewhere else. For me I kinda lost a family where I had been for 20 years...and it was important to find another family group to work with."

Sharon Buchanan is the President of the Volunteer Guild which counts more than 300 members.
