SUPERIOR, Wis. (NNCNOW.com) --- The campaign of Wisconsin Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke claims that Governor Scott Walker's recent attack ad is a big lie.
Mary Burke says she's done a good job of leading strategic planning at her family owned company.
That experience, she says, puts her in a position to make Wisconsin's economy successful.
"The problem is Wisconsin is lagging under Scott Walker – last – dead last in the Midwest in job creation," Burke said.
Governor Scott Walker is taking aim at Burke's nearly decade long career at her family owned company, Trek.
"He (Scott Walker) is attacking Mary Burke during her time at father's corporation, Trek, for sending jobs overseas, particularly to China," said Alisa Von Hagel, professor of political science at the University of Wisconsin Superior. "So the ad emphasizes that the jobs are going to China where women and children on average are paid two dollars an hour."
"To start all of this now is perhaps a signal of a contentious battle to come," Von Hagel added.
"It's Walker's agency that gave millions of tax breaks that relocated jobs overseas," says the announcer in Burke's campaign ad.
"She's hitting back with the same message basically that during his time in this administration he was allowing this Wisconsin agency to use taxpayer dollars which eventually allowed these companies to outsource jobs," Von Hagel said.
John Burke, the president of Trek Bicycle Corp., is demanding that Walker's ad be taken down.
The Burke campaign says the ad is filled with political sins of omission.
"Mary Burke helped build Trek into a company that almost 1,000 employees go to work everyday, making more bikes in the U.S than anyone," the announcer in Burke's campaign ad continues.
Von Hagel says with the millions of dollars each campaign has raised, voters can expect more combative political jabs in the coming weeks.
