Possible free parking for downtown Duluth

The Duluth City Council is considering waiving parking fees at city–owned downtown parking ramps and downtown parking meters during certain hours this holiday season. Councilor Jeff Anderson said the waiver would benefit citizens and the city.

“I think that anything that we do to encourage people to come downtown and to shop and to eat out and to go to theaters and do all of these things that we have in our downtown we're going to see increased tax revenue for the city, increased profits for downtown business owners,” Anderson said.

Anderson wants to take it even further and offer free downtown parking year round. The city council will take up the matter at their Monday meeting.
