Burglar Will Serve 4 Years in Jail Following Break- In Assault and Police Chase

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The man who led Duluth Police on a chase and jumped into Lake Superior following an assault in Congdon Park four months ago, will serve four years in jail.

Thomas William Baker, a 36-year-old Duluth man was sentenced Friday morning on counts of felony first degree burglary and misdemeanor assault.

On March 30, police were called to a home on Branch Street after Baker broke into a through the bathroom window.

The victim accompanied by a small child, told police Baker pushed her down in attempt to escape the house with stolen items, after she grabbed a hold of him.

Baker ended up jumping into Lake Superior after leading police on a chase on Duluth's Lake Walk before he was arrested.

According to our partners at the Duluth News Tribune, Baker was credited more than 100 days for time already served in jail.

Baker also pleaded guilty to another burglary on Grandview Avenue in the Chester Park neighborhood.
