Cloquet, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- The Cloquet police department is investigating a house fire in which they are deeming an act of arson.

Around 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning, police were called to a residence on the 2300 block of Kelly Avenue on the report that a house had been intentionally set on fire.

While on scene, police say that one of the occupants of the home had put the fire out with a garden hose.

There were no injuries.

Police do not believe this was a random act and believe some of the residents of the home knew the suspect.

Statements from possible witnesses were taken at the scene and through these, a suspect was identified.

The suspect was arrested a short time later without incident and is currently being held at the Carlton County Law Enforcement Center awaiting formal charges.

The underlying motive is unclear at this time and remains under investigation.
