Cook Co. Attorney Threatens Lawsuit over Court House Shooting

April 11, 2013 Updated Apr 11, 2013 at 5:33 PM CDT

Grand Marais, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Embattled Cook County Attorney Tim Scannell is threatening to sue the county over the court house shooting in December 2011.

The Cook County Board of Commissioners held a closed door meeting yesterday to discuss the threatened litigation.

The move was recommended by the attorney for the board, according to a post on the internet blog of Commissioner Sue Hakes.

In the letter, Dyan Ebert writes it was necessary to hold a meeting in a private, confidential setting to discuss strategy and possible reconciliation or settlement options.

Scannell was one of several shot by Daniel Schlienz in the Grand Marais Courthouse Shooting.
