Duluth Man Charged with Attempted First Degree Murder

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A Duluth man has been arrested for attempted murder after allegedly choking his girlfriend and knocking her unconscious during a domestic dispute on Thursday.

Police were called to to the Miller Hill Mall just before 10 pm Thursday night on reports of a domestic assault.

Upon arrival, authorities learned that 22-year-old Matthew Shober showed up at his ex-girlfriends place of work and they went outside to talk.

Shober became upset and choked the woman and said he was going to kill her before slamming her head against the wall..knocking her unconscious.

Shober continued to kick the woman in the head several times after she was knocked unconscious.

The victim, a 21-year-old Duluth resident was transported to Essentia Health St Mary's with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Shober was transported to St Louis County Jail and has been formally charged with attempted first degree murder.
