Duluth Teen Charged in Weekend Murder

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A 17-year-old Duluth teen has been charged in the death of a 27-year-old Duluth man that occured in Lincoln Park over the weekend.

Enrique Robert Giner, IV was charged Thursday morning by juvenile delinquency petition with intentional second-degree murder in connection with the death of Bryan Alan Starnes, who was found dead on Saturday inside of his apartment.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim had at least 57 injuries to his head, face, neck and back. An autopsy on Starnes confirmed that he died of blunt force trauma and sharp force trauma. The injuries were consistent with a hammer and a knife-like instrument being used.

The investigation into Starne's death is continuing by the Duluth Police Department.

"Our hearts go out to his family and we offer our deepest condolences," said St. Louis County Attorney Mark Rubin.

Meanwhile, Giner is being held at the Arrowhead Juvenile Center and will continue to be detained there. His next hearing is scheduled for March 28.
