Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- Duluth police responded to a pedestrian vs. vehicle accident Monday morning, where the suspect feld on foot afterward, but was later found.
At 9:10 a.m. police responded to 12th Avenue East and Superior Street on a report that a pedestrian was hit by a car.
Police learned that the vehicle took off and parked in a nearby parking lot and the driver fled on foot.
Police were able to locate and arrest the driver of the vehicle on the Lakewalk a short time later.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a Honda Civic driven by a 29 year old Bayfield, Wisconsin man, was traveling eastbound on Superior Street when he struck Ashen Shugar Aren Diehl, a 33 year old female resident of Duluth.
Police say the Diehl was walking her 9 year old daughter at the time she was struck by the vehicle.
Diehl was taken to a hospital where she is currently being treated with life-threatening injuries.
Diehl's daughter was not injured.
The driver of the vehicle is currently being held at the Saint Louis County Jail pending formal charges of Criminal Vehicular Operation and other related offenses.
