Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A 26-year-old Duluth man will spend the next eight years behind bars for setting fire to an apartment complex in July.
According to the Duluth News Tribune, Michael James Larson pleaded guilty to first-degree arson and two counts of stalking in October as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.
Additional charges of third- and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and domestic assault were dropped.
Larson was arrested following a fire at the Windwood Townhomes on Upham Road on July 26th.
Authorities said Larson was standing outside the apartment building at the time of the fire and was taken in for questioning.
Authorities said the apartment belonged to Larson and his girlfriend along with their two children.
Larson will spend at least two-thirds of the sentence – about 5½ years – in prison before he’s eligible for parole, according to the Duluth News Tribune.
