Mahtowa, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a fatal hit and run at a rest stop along I-35 in Carlton County.

The incident involving 62-year-old Gregory Blackburn of Cloquet happened around 5:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Culkin Rest Area in Mahtowa.

The State Patrol says the incident under investigation prompted a 25 mile pursuit of a 2004 Ford F Series truck.

State Troopers gave chase and arrested the 55-year-old driver on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide, fleeing police, and third degree DWI.

He's being held in the Carlton County jail with charges expected to be filed Friday.

The Carlton County Sheriff, St. Louis County Sheriff, Hermantown Police, Proctor Police and the MN DNR responded to the incident.
