Grand Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.cm) --- The 26 year old Bovey man accused of shooting two people and kidnapping his estranged wife has pleaded guilty.
William Levi Payne pleaded guilty to seven felony counts against him including one count of 2nd Degree Murder, one count of First Degree Attempted Murder, one count of Kidnapping, one count of Terroristic Threats, one count of Burglary, one count of 2nd Degree Assault and one count of Violation of an Order Protection.
The plea negotiation calls for 52.5 years, of which he must spend a minimum of 35 years in prison and after his release from prison be on supervised release for 17.5 years. This plea is subject to the approval of the court.
Payne is accused of shooting two victims, 32-year-old Paul Russell Johnson of Grand Rapids and 59-year-old Rosemary Oberg-Johnson of Grand Rapids back in December.
Rosemary Oberg-Johnson died in the hospital due to her injuries. Paul Johnson has been recovering from his wounds.
Payne's sentencing hearing is set for March 7th.
