Little Falls, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A verdict has been reached in the Little Falls murder trial.

A jury found 65-year-old Byron Smith guilty of four counts of first degree murder for the shooting death of two teens in his home, according to WCCO-TV.

The jury deliberated for about three hours Tuesday.

Smith shot the cousins, 18-year-old Haile Kifer and 17-year-old Nick Brady, multiple times after they broke into his home on Thanksgiving Day in 2012.

Smith had set up a surveillance system at the property and a full audio recording from the day the shooting took place was evidence during trial.

He claimed he was defending himself and feared for his life after several break-ins at his home.

The prosecution argued he planned to take their lives and waited for them to come downstairs, armed with guns.
