Paynesville, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Minnesota State Patrol said late Tuesday the man driving a semi that illegally passed a stopped school bus, nearly killing a young female student waiting alongside the highway, turned himself in.

Cameras inside the bus captured the close call on Highway 23 near Paynesville and New London, about 35 miles southwest of Saint Cloud.

Footage shows the semi blow past the stopped bus — lights flashing and stop arm down — and continue along the highway.

The girl and bus driver were not injured.

Several witnesses called 911 but were unable to provide enough details for authorities to locate the semi.
