Man Charged for Taco Johns Robbery

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- A man who allegedly robbed the Taco Johns on Central Entrance in Duluth has been charged for aggravated robbery and two counts of terrorist threats.

Andrew Salus, 30, of Duluth allegedly walked into Taco Johns wearing a ski mask, black coat and hat, brandished a gun and ordered an employee to open the safe. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was hurt during the robbery.

A follow-up investigation revealed that a similar attempted robbery occurred the following day at a McDonald's in Fargo, North Dakota. Fargo Police had a 30 year old Duluth man in custody for the attempted robbery.

Duluth Police Investigators contacted the Fargo Police Department because of the similarities of both robberies. The Duluth man in custody there was identified as Andrew Salus.

Salus remains in the Cass County Jail in Fargo, North Dakota on the robbery that occurred there.

Andrew Salus has extensive criminal history convictions for; aid and abet escape, aid and abet 3rd degree burglary, receiving stolen property, theft, escape from custody, attempted theft by swindle, domestic assault, tampering with a motor vehicle, a federal drug conviction and multiple traffic related convictions. Also, he is currently on federal probation for drug charges.
