Man Charged in Fatal Hit and Run

Spider Lake, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- A Hayward, WI man has been charged for his alleged involvement in a fatal hit and run that killed the passenger of a motorcycle and injured the driver.

According to the Sawyer County Record, 29 year old Jacob R. Collins has been charged with causing great bodily harm by hit and run and causing a death by hit and run.

According to the accident report, on July 8th, Jacobs was making a left turn onto Highway 77 near Spider Lake, WI when he struck the motorcycle that 30 year old Kristi Mae Kivi of Ironwood, Michigan and 35 year old Thomas A. Peterson of Three Lakes, WI were riding.

Both Kivi and Peterson were thrown into the ditch. Kivi was air lifted to a hospital in Duluth where she succumbed to her injuries. Peterson sustained severe injuries in the crash.

Collins is in jail on a $25,000 cash bond. Another bond hearing for Collins is scheduled for August 8th.
