Mahtowa, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A 55-year-old man was charged Friday in the Wednesday hit and run death of a Mahtowa Rest Stop Janitor.

According to the Pine Journal, Gregory Allen Scherber is charged with criminal vehicular homicide and fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, both felonies.

The Minnesota State Patrol says Scherber allegedly struck 62-year-old Gregory Blackburn of Cloquet around 5:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Culkin Rest Area.

The State Patrol says the incident prompted a 25 mile pursuit of a Scherber, which ended after his truck ended up in a ditch in Hermantown.

Carlton County Attorney Thom Pertler told the Pine Journal more charges could follow.
