UPDATE: Man Remains in Critical Condition following Assault in Superior

Superior, WI ( NNCNOW.com) --- A man remained in critical condition Wednesday following an assault on Sunday night in Superior.

Superior Police are still investigating the circumstances behind the man's injuries.

Around 11 p.m. on Sunday night, a white male, in his mid 30's was admitted to the emergency room at the Essentia Health St. Mary's Superior. Initial police reports say that the male was located lying in the road near Belknap Street and Ohio Avenue. However, this version of events was found to be inaccurate and suspicious circumstances were apparent.

The victim appeared to be sufferring from head trauma and was unconcious. He was transported to Essentia Health St. Mary's in Duluth where he is still listed as being in critical condition.

Police are withholding the name of the victim.

Police say they have a suspect being held on $100,000 cash bail. A hearing for the suspect is scheduled for Friday. Authorities also confirmed the person who dropped the victim off at the hospital is related to the case but is not the suspect in custody.
