Canton, SD (NNCNOW.com) --- A South Dakota man could spend the rest of his life behind bars after being indicted for murder in the death of Adrian Peterson's son.
According to our partners at KARE 11, Joseph R. Patterson was indicted by a Lincoln County Grand Jury on 2nd Degree murder and 1st Degree manslaughter in connection with the death of Peterson's 2 year old son.
Patterson was also indicted for aggravated battery of an infant and abuse or cruelty to a minor.
In South Dakota both second degree murder and first degree manslaughter carry the possibility of life in prison.
Adrian Peterson confirmed that he found out two months ago that he was the father of the two year old boy who died on October 11th from injuries sustained in an alleged aggravated assault.
The first time Peterson saw the child was at the hospital just a day before we died. Peterson says he had been working with the boy's mother to support her family financially.
