Cloquet, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A new crime-fighting tool designed to sniff out the cause of arson fires is getting a warm welcome in Cloquet.

'Wish' is the newest member of the Cloquet Fire Department.

Through funding by State Farm Insurance Companies, Wish was able to meet her handler in Maine and get certification.

Cloquet has had a K-9 unit before but had to retire the dog of old age.

Officials say the success rate of finding the cause of a fire increases with a K-9 on the team.

"We're yielding percentages from like 30-40 percent, but with a dog its like 80-90 percent success rate of actually finding the accelerant," said Jason Maki.

Wish is 18 months old and will serve for about 10 years.
