SUPERIOR, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) - Police say an employee from Family Dollar was sent to the hospital with minor injuries after an alleged shoplifter got into a vehicle and left the scene.

Police say one person was sent to the hospital with minor injuries after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday night.

Witnesses told police the incident happened after the manager of Family Dollar at the Superior Belknap Shopping Center chased after a suspected shoplifter.

Once the suspected shoplifter got into a van waiting outside, police say a second employee from the store was hit by the van as the driver left the scene.

The employee was sent to the hospital with Gold Cross Ambulance.

Soon after, the Superior Police Department tracked down the van and searched for the suspects.

Police say charges are likely later this week.
