Cass County, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Pine River woman, accused of animal neglect, has pleaded not guilty in Cass County Court.

60 year old Deborah Rowell faces nine charges, ranging from mistreatment of animals to failure to provide adequate shelter for dogs.

Rowell is accused of housing dogs in overcrowded houses and runs and not providing adequate shade at her property along County Road 1E in Pine River.

Authorities say they also found dirty, green water with one bucket containing a dead rat on her property. Temperatures in the kennel were reported to be between 91 and 97 degrees with very little ventilation and inadequate shade.

102 dogs and 29 puppies were removed from the property. Authorities say all of the animals have been taken down to Twin Cities shelters.

Rowell's jury trial is set for October.
