Police: Duluth man awaiting sentencing found with more crack cocaine

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Authorities say a Duluth man who was supposed to be sentenced today for sale of a controlled substance was found with more crack cocaine.

37 year old Russell Eddie Lee Jones was charged with Second Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance after Duluth Police executed a search warrant at his home.

On Thursday, Duluth Police and Investigators from the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1300 block of East Second Street as well as on Jones.

Authorities say they found about 7.5 grams of crack cocaine (packaged for sale), and $2,350 during the search on Jones. A digital scale, more crack cocaine, and additional drug packaging was found during the search of the residence.

Jones was originally supposed to be sentenced today in court after he pleaded guilty on August 23rd to Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Sale of Crack in a Public Housing Zone, as well as trading crack for EBT cards.

Jones has multiple convictions dating back to 1996 involving possession of cocaine and possession of a firearm by a felon.
