Red Lake, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A man who hit a woman with a shovel during a fight on the Red Lake Indian Reservation will spent 18 months in federal prison.

Myron Lee Jones, 26, was sentenced this week on one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

In a plea agreement, Jones admitted to the August 2009 incident that left a woman with 20 interior and exterior stiches after being hit in the head with a shovel.

A judge also ordered Jones to pay $219.30 in restitution.
